Addressing growing demand for its state-of-the-art LED lighting solutions, leading LED systems integrator, Norlux, recently expanded its capability with the addition of a DEK Horizon 03iX printing platform. Key evaluation criteria included accuracy, repeatability, flexibility, vision capability, throughput and customer service – all of which DEK delivered with a clear competitive advantage, thus securing the Norlux business.
Based in Carol Stream, Illinois, Norlux designs and manufactures high brightness LED solutions for a variety of applications within the architectural, transportation, industrial and medical markets. The company not only provides design and build services on a contract basis, but also develops Norlux-branded products, the most recent of which is its Gryphon™ LED driver for the architectural fixture market. In fact, it was the scale-up for the Gryphon product along with increased contract volumes that necessitated the purchase of the Horizon 03iX.
“The LED lighting industry has experienced substantial growth over the last five years and so has our business,” explains Norlux President, John DiNardi. “In order to deliver on our strategic expansion initiatives, it was imperative that we had a printing system that could provide the accuracy, repeatability, flexibility and throughput required to meet current and future demands. The DEK Horizon 03iX met all of these metrics and then some. Plus, our switch to DEK’s VectorGuard® stencil system gives us even more process latitude, making changeover simple and fast. As a business that manufactures hundreds of different products, the process adaptability DEK has enabled is a real competitive advantage.”
Fast changeover and 6-Sigma performance are at the heart of the Horizon 03iX. Superior alignment capability of 2.0 Cpk @ +/- 12.5 microns, in-field retrofitability, intuitive control via the Instinctiv V9 user interface and a cover package designed to enable easy operator access to the system all combine to make DEK’s Horizon 03iX tops in productivity and low cost of ownership. The Horizon 03iX becomes an even faster changeover powerhouse when paired with DEK’s versatile VectorGuard stencil technology. A robust frame architecture enables manufacturers to easily move foils in and out of the VectorGuard system, while at the same time ensuring operator safety and reducing storage space requirements.
“Not only is DEK’s print platform and stencil solution superior,” comments DiNardi, “but so is the company’s support. We needed a printer ASAP and while we waited for our new Horizon to be built, DEK provided us with an interim system to address our scale-up requirements, which was critical. What’s more, the team has delivered expert technical advice and has always been thoughtful and timely. Working with these knowledgeable professionals has instilled a great deal of confidence about our decision to choose DEK.”
DiNardi concludes: “At Norlux, we stay ahead of the curve. It’s refreshing to partner with a company like DEK that mirrors this philosophy.”
